About Me

Hi everyone!

My name is Shawn and I want to retire soon. Don’t we all!! By that I mean within the next 1 – 2 years, if my wife will let me!

I have worked in the I.T. field as an analyst/developer for the past 34 years, with the exception of a two year hiatus when we moved to Great Britain because of my wife’s work. I think if I had it my way, I would retire tomorrow. Unfortunately, life is expensive and I’m still putting my three kids through university. My oldest son completed his undergrad degree in April (2016). My second son just graduated this past April (2018) and my daughter is in her final semester (2019). One of my problems is that I won’t have much of a pension to speak of as I spent most of my career as an IT consultant. Hence the need to boost my retirement income. Thankfully, my wife will have a good pension with which we can fall back on but I would still like to find some opportunity which would help supplement my retirement income. And then I came across Wealthy Affiliate. I don’t even remember how I saw it, but I thought that this was the answer to my prayers. Now I know it’s not a get rich quick scheme (I’ve been burned by these in the past), and I’m still going through the wealth of training here, but I honestly think that when all is said and done, the training here will afford me with a way to boost my retirement income. After all, golf is not cheap and I’m hoping to do a lot of that when I retire.

The reason I created this website is to try and inform people who are in the same position as me, starting to think about retirement and how they are going to be able to afford a lifestyle based on their current retirement income. I believe the answer to that is through the Wealthy Affiliate program.

Again, my name is Shawn. It’s nice to meet you and feel free to contact me if you ever need anything. Drop me a comment below or you can always get in touch with me via WealthyAffiliate.com (here is a link to my profile) or you can use my email address below.

All the best!
Shawn

  1. Hi Shawn,
very cool website, I like it. Especially the way you show the topic. Well done. Have a nice time.

  2. Hi Shawn,

I’m just a little older than you, 57, so I know exactly where you’re coming from. My husband and I have been independent contractors for life, so retirement is a huge concern for us. It’s interesting when you start realizing that time is limited, and if you don’t do it now, you won’t have another chance!

Your website is looking good. There’s lots of great info packed around your WA links. Your story is nicely written, and I immediately felt like I could relate to you. In the future, you could also build a site promoting WA to young adults like your kids. That’s my plan as well. Good luck with this, and with all your sites.

    • Hi Deborah,
Thank you very much for your comments! It sounds like we’ve had similar career paths. I’ve only been employed for the past 7 years with the federal government, but I was always an independent contract up until then. For years I was looking for some way to make additional money and hopefully we will both be successful with WA.
Good luck with your website as well.
      Regards,
      Shawn

    • Thanks very much for your comments James! Just stick with the WA training and you’ll be there in no time. The training is very helpful. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.
      Regards,
      Shawn

  4. Hi Shawn, I enjoyed reading your profile. I’m a bit older than you. I’m 61 and I’ve had lots of ideas that I’ve wanted to pursue but the big “P” keeps holding me back. Procrastination is a big problem for me but I feel I’ve come to a place in my life that I really want to live my dreams of retiring out in the country. I’d also like to retire in and year or 2, at least by the time I’ve 65. I must say though that my job gives me the opportunity to do a lot of reading and research on my passion which is wellness and fitness. I’ve crawled out of illness all on my own without medical help. It feels so good to feel healthy again. All the best to you with you business. Have a fantastic day.

    • Hello Eunice!
Thanks for taking the time to look at my site, I appreciate it, and than you for your comments. I guess over the years I’ve procrastinated as well, even though I have always wanted something that would help supplement my income. I believe I have found it here with Wealthy Affiliate. I would be interested in looking at your health and wellness site. I for one, need to get in better shape. After 6 knee operations, including a total knee replacement, I’ve put on some weight that I would love to lose, but it’s been difficult. I’m glad you’re feeling healthy! I look forward to the day when I can say the same thing.
      Best regards,
      Shawn
